Home 2015 – Chinese New Year 2015 (Part II)

My holiday continue! Still at Medan and will go back to my hometown today. Buy first a little bit culianary for breakfast. My mom took me to have breakfast at infamous AKHUN Mie Pangsit, unfortunately it’s full so we moved to another place. I can’t remember the place name but it serves Hokkien Mie. Hokkien is like a Chinese Tribe or race, Mie is noodle. The Hokkien Mie has alot of ingredients – pork, meat roll, prawns, fish meatballs, prawn meatballs, egg etc. Seem busy but it tastes good. Various taste in one big bowl and I love it. The price also affordable. I think I will come again.

Our tummies are full! My mom took me to tarditional wet market to buy some stuffs for Chinese New Year Eve dinner. After she finished do her stuffs. We’re back to our hometown, Kisaran. My sisters will go back at Chinese New Year Eve.  So it’s only me and my mom (+driver) will travel for 3-4 hours to Kisaran. But lucky the traffic was smooth enough so we arrived just in time.

Meet my brother – Ben, his wife – Dewi and my cute nephew – Owen. We had dinner at one nice cafe in Kisaran – The Ritz. My family have plan to develop a Cafe business in our home. So we’re kinda look like study this cafe and also we talked about life and future, discuss and argue. Family quality discussion. Hopefully all goes well.

My nephew is going 2 this year!! Ahh I miss him so much. I bought him a gift – car toys. He seems to like it but I heard my mom that he loves to play stacking Pop Mie. Pop Mie is an instant noodle in Cup Package. He loves to stacked it high then let it fall down. Very noisy but he always laugh and happy.

I also amazed he can recognize me although we seldom meet. I’m happy and proud of it. Hahaha..

Below photo is the look of the cafe in our home. I think it looks good just need a little bit work of light, air circulation and some.decorations. My brother asked me to design the menu. I feel glad to help him 🙂

We need a lot of support to develop our cafe. I wish everything goes well, we can serve delicious food and beverages, nice atmosphere to hang out with family and friends. It’s gonna be wonderful if we can achieve it together.

Home 2015 – Chinese New Year (Part I)

This year I took a lot of annual leave for going back to my hometown to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family. I took 7 days starts from 14th to 21st February 2015. It’s going to be very exciting.. I miss my family, nephew and the local foods.

I didn’t sleep because I’m afraid I will oversleep.. I’m taking the early flight at 8.00 am using Lion Air. Delayed for 30 mins. Then depart and arrived at Kualanamu and meet my mom there. It’s feel amazing to her again. Mwah!

We went to Medan. Picked up my sisters, Wie and Min, then we’re having lunch at one of my favorite restaurant. It serves delicious chinese foods – Babi Hong (Steamed Pork) is my most favorite, Meat Roll, Garlic Kailan, etc. I ate a lot.

Next, we went shopping at Brastagi Store. This is my mom favorite place to buy stuffs and fruits. I love store has display various Chinese New Year decorations and lanterns. All seems red and very oriental.

We’re going out all day long. The night is coming. We stopped and rest, having dinner at Little Melaka Restaurant in Centre Point Mall. Quite nice place and foods.

These are our food! Seem yummy? Hehe 🙂

Home for Family & Friends (Part II)

Good Morning!

The best thing to see in the morning right now is our Nephew Owen.

We are big family will go to have breakfast at my favorite restaurant – Dim Sum Ayong. I always happy to be here and enjoy the food and family gathering especially now with Owen. Cute baby!

“Delicious Dim Sum” , My all time favorite!

I think it’s Mid-Autumn Festival now, I can see the restaurant also sell Moon Cake and lanterns. The Lanterns has various design, such as dragon, fish, phoenix and even they have Crayon Shinchan and Minion design, very colorful hanging up to the ceiling. Min brought Owen along to see the lanterns, Owen seem interested with the lanterns.

Ben and Mom have some business to do, so just me, Wie, Min, Dewi and Owen together. We’re hanging out and shopping at the Sun Plaza, one of the biggest mall in Medan. We’re having lunch at Uncle K Kopi Tiam. Kopi Tiam is like our vocabulary to describe Coffee Shop but it more sound Asian! It has a big space for an Coffee Shop with nice design, very woody. It also sell foods like Roti Canai, Martabak, etc. Min said it always crowded in peak hours.

We ordered Iced Coffee, Es Cendol, Ambula Juice, Half Boiled Eggs with Toast, and Martabak Rendang. All are DELICIOUS! The Martabak Rendang is like pancake crepes with traditional coconut milk and spiced beef as the filling plus Curry Sauce, it’s so BIG, THICK and DELICIOUS! and It’s CHEAP! Fantastic!! I will come back again for this menu!

“Very deilicious and afforable! Very recommended!”

This is the funny part, Owen was crying and made us panic to calm him down. Dewi tried to give him milk but He didn’t want to drink milk. Maybe he want something different. We tried the iced coffee, Dewi used her finger to take a drop of iced coffee and let her son taste it. He calmed down, eyes open, his mouth chewing fast his mother finger, we laugh! He likes it! Sometime using spoon. Owen loves COFFEE!! He cried and wanted more.

After Ben and Mom have come to Sun Plaza, we’re gathered. We had early dinner at ZingDo – Korean Restaurant. All day only eat and eat and eat again. But it’s fun, love to see my family are so happy in every pictures that I captures, especially my mom, happy grandma!

“I’m really happy to see my mom smile like this..” Cute Owen.

Happy Papi 😀

Home for Family & Friend (Part I)

Long time not blogging, very busy lately. 😥 Make some time to write so memory won’t vanish. Checked my photo in my photo library in my PC and I found these photo and I wanna write down about the stories.

I can’t remember the date 😦 , But it’s around September 2013 if I’m not wrong. I went to Medan for my best friend’s wedding reception. Her name is Rosabella, she is my high school friend at Sutomo 1 Medan. We’re in one gank and she is very kind, warm, love green color and has ‘Sister’ appearance and attitude, so I call her ‘Cie’ means sister. She doesn’t mind about it. I’m so happy she’s married.

One more main purpose to go back home is meet my family and my NEW Family Member, My Nephew, Owen Dharma Kho who was born at April 9th 2013. I only saw my cute nephew through the phone. Never met him. Now I can’t wait to see him in person.

This time is very excited, It is also the first time I landed at the Newest Airport in Medan (not actually in the town, kinda outside), KUALANAMU. The airport is nice! Much much better than the old one, Polonia. New airport makes me feel like a tourist. My brother, Ben (Father of Owen), picked me up. I met my mother and sisters and hahaha my cute little nephew, Owen with her mother, Dewi (sister in law). Owen CUTE!!! His face looks like his father.

We went straight from Kualanamu to the city and we’re going home. Taking rest. Owen is taking a bath, He looks happy and fresh! Love that smooth soft skin like a bun. Hugs!

I tried to hug my nephew, so hard to find a good position for the baby and for myself, not professional.. compare to my mother. I love my nephew so much.

We will go out to have lunch and shopping. My mother planned to buy Baby Cart/Stroller for Owen so it’s more convenient to take Owen along. When we reached at the store, we have a hard time to choose the Baby Cart/Stroller based on the function, color and design. Probably we’re spend about 45 minutes to decide which one is the best for Owen. Owen also help us to choose the stroller by put him inside the stroller and look which one is more comfort for him. Finally, We chose the red and black stroller which more functional than others.

After that we’re having lunch at my favorite food restaurant – GEDHE. It serves Rice with pork. I mentioned it before at my blogs before. It’s the best! so Yummy! My brother and Dewi first time came here. He underestimate with the appearance of the restaurant. But when he ate the pork, he silenced and nod firmly. Yes, this is delicious. :p , Well now I’m hungry..

We’re full, now it’s time for shopping. We went to Berastagi Fruit Store. Just ordinary shopping routine but happy to walk along with Owen. Love to see his smile, so innocent like an angel.

Family gathering dinner, I miss this moment so much. We have a nice dinner at MARCO Sea Food – Cemara Asri. Great Family with Great Foods. Love this moment. It’s been a long time, whole family eat at one table, I wish my father still alive. I salute Dewi (and all mother in the World) to take care of their baby. She hardly to eat because taking care of Owen. Sometime he cried for no reason, and Dewi has a special magic to calm him down. I believed every mother has that kind of magic with her son and daughter. She can eat after Ben replace her. Beautiful scene, Father, Mother, Son = Family.

So many delicious foods, yummy! Better if we eat with family.

Kuala Lumpur Again (Part III)

Monday – November 18, 2013

This day gonna be SPECIAL! because the theme for this day is City Tour with ONENG! Oops Sherline! It’s weekday, so Koko Mike and Abang Osman have to go to work! Sherline suggested to bring me along when they’re working. Thank you, Sherline! Koko Mike took me to Sherline Apartment. After meet her, Koko Mike went to work. First time visit Sherline apartment, I feel like visit a greek garden. Meet Joan here, playing with her PSP. I had breakfast special cooked by Chef (Inem) Sherline, It’s Indomie Goreng made in Malaysia. Same brand different production. Hahaha.. taste slightly different.

1 day with Onen*… ups Sherline. She planned to take me to the temples and asked me what I want to eat? It’s Pork! nguik nguik! She laughed! She took me to 2 temples. She’s driving and using her GPS. Sound cute and get ridiculous if the GPS lead her to the different direction, her panic face is so Oneng! (funny). The first temple we visited is Lim Chen Xiu (CMIIW), we cannot take picture, But I tried to take it. So we just prayed and donate. Too bad, actually this temple has a lot of spot to take a nice picture especially the Buddha journey.

The other one is more bigger than the first one, and It has a very good design. Sherline said it’s a famous temple and a lot of people who wanna get married will pray here (CMIIW).

The temple has a big garden and statues – God and Goddess Statue, Chinese Zodiac Statues. It’s funny, We took pictures with our Chinese Zodiac statue. I’m Rat, Sherline is sheep/goat, Joan is Monkey.

This is the interesting part in the temple, Ask for my fortune. And this is the result:

More Haste, Less Speed – Have foresight and be patient. if an opportunity slips by, don’t be jumpy and act recklessly. Consolidate and await better times. All will go well for you as you are protected by planet Venus. Guideline: Financial Pursuit: Not very fruitful, proceed in a slow and steady manner; Honour & Merits: Hopeful but progress is slow; Matrimony: Not very promising; Litigation: Private settlement preferred.

602 HOLY

Love every details in the temple.

This is really a great temple. Love the design, very oriental. They also have Turtle Garden. A lot of turtles here (also Mosquitoes, Sherline is freaking out). Chinese people believe that Turtle is a symbol of long live, so they wrote their name on the turtle shell.

Cute Buddha Souvenirs to buy.

After visiting the temple, we’re going to have lunch. I want pork – Ba Kut Teh. I heard Malaysia Ba Kut Teh is famous! So I wanna try. Sherline took a lot of time to find the place. The GPS always lead her to the wrong direction, she’s confused haha.. and then she called Tan. Tan lead her to the location, Yeah! We’re here. Tan said he will join us for lunch. He came after a few minutes then we’re order. We order the Ba Kut Teh and some other food. taste great! I love the soup! Very-very delicious!

After finish, Tan has to go back for work. Sherline took me to Berjaya Square for shopping and desserts. This is also a big mall with a very nice Christmas decoration. Different with the Pavilion, Berjaya using the Red & Gold theme. Feel warm. I love the giant Christmas tree at the atrium, it surrounded by the hanging ornaments make it even look more magnificent.

We have Share Tea and Snowflakes here. Rest and gossip. Sherline was searching/survey costume for the event. A lot of stores to shop here.

Next, she took me to Fitness First Paradigm, she said this is the newest club. I think this is the best club in Kuala Lumpur, look so new and neat. Nice atmosphere.

Just a short visit here, after that she took me to Tan house. She said Tan house is very authentic and very Malaysia feel. When I go inside the house, I remembered my Grandmother’s house. So classic and full of memory/history. A view of and old town. We meet Tan here. And he took us to eat Durian! Awww!! It’s great! Just nearby his house and he order the Durian. There are 3 grade of Durian in Kuala Lumpur. They are Kampung, Udang Merah and Musang King. Tan order them all. They’re all very good with their own quality, but Musang King is the BEST! Very Moist, a lot of meat, balance taste between sweet and biiter, and smeel really good! I drooled! This is so wonderful!

It’s almost night, Sherline took me to the hotel. Fitness First has arrange a room for me at Royale Bintang Hotel near The Curve. I checked in and really surprise with my room. It’s big and nice and it’s only for me! I feel like a baby on the soft cotton cloud/marchmallow!! Sherline told me that I’m so lucky!

After done checked in and put my things, Sherline kidnapped me again and took me to dinner at Korean Grill Restaurant – Daorae. We met Tan and Joan there. They’re happy family 😀 . Love to see them, We really enjoy our time together. We grilled pork again. In this one day my menu is PORK! hahahahaha.. This is what I can do and eat if one day with Onen* … Sherline.. Thank you so much for your generous hospitality.

She took me back to hotel. I still feel so happy with my room.. *jump jump

Good Night! Tomorrow will start the Asia Marketing Forum..

Family Trip 2013 – Jakarta & Bandung (Part I)

My sisters, Wie and Min will come to Jakarta for holiday. They planned to go to Bandung too. Min has organized for the Bandung tour for 2 days 1 night. A few day later, my mom said she wanna come along too. That would be great. They’re coming at 24th January 2013 to Jakarta and stay at 4th Aunt’s house. I had a tuition to attend so I can’t join with them. After finish the tuition I contacted them and asked them whether they’re going somewhere near my position. Then we decided to go to Grand Indonesia, that’s my intention. I wanna bring them to Magnum Cafe – usually have to queue for 1 – 2 hours to enter this cafe. They have to go to some unique places here. I’m queing and waiting for them to come. They will come along with 1st Aunt, 4th Aunt and cousin, Min-min. Finally they arrived and we entered the cafe. We ordered the spaghetti, Fish in the basket and Red Jewel Ice Cream by Magnum. The elders seem not really like the western foods. Ha..ha..

After that, we walked along the mall and took a lot of pictures. Grand Indonesia has a lot of nice spot for photography. Then we had another dinner at Waraku – a japanese restaurant. We ordered a lot – Sushi, Ramen, Tempura, Udon etc. Eat a lot and full. Time to go home and take a rest for tommorow morning. We asked 4th Aunt to come along to Bandung.

Isn’t it FUN ?

Benny & Dewi Casual Pre Wedding Photo

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

This is the 2nd Pre Wedding album / slideshow of my brother (Benny) and his wife (Dewi). This time they used casual attire and photographed by their friend, Herry. They chose yellow shirt and short pants which I think is a good choice, Yellow is a bright color with a happy mood, all the photo seem very vibrant and cheerful. They look more relax, a lot of emotions ( I love it) and natural expressions + gestures + poses.

They took a different places such as restaurant, park, temple, car, garden and playground. Ordinary place with ordinary exterior / interior. And using some items around them (such as broom). But I don’t feel the photos are bad, they’re all good! It’s all because the emotion inside it. They act just the way they are (I always love to see my brother’s silliness).

Enjoy the photo.. (33 photos)

Home 2012 Part IV

It was a happy time last night. The next day, my mom, sisters and me are going back to Medan. My sisters have to work  and I’ll go back to Jakarta on Monday. We have one day to spend together. And my sister suggested to go to Brastagi, Tanah Karo – a city on the hill.

It’s been along time, the last time I remember that I’ve been there is when I was in the high school. I wanna go there. Yes decided! It takes about 1-2 hours to reach there from Medan. I’m so excited! Feel like a little boy going to a vacation. Love to see the trees and monkeys.. Feel the cool air.. I’m so happy.

Arrive!!! Then we’re having lunch.. A restaurant that specialist of roasted pork. They sell by amount of weight. 1 kg roasted pork cost only IDR 60.000,- It’s enough for 4 of us. It tastes good! Especially with the cool air and hot tea. It’s perfect!

After lunch, we went to the temples. Brastagi’s temples are so beautiful. The first one is Vihara Dharma Shanti. Nice temple with a lot of beautiful ’round ball’ flowers, mountain lilies, Buddha statues, and Buddha quotes. Love it!! We took some pictures and pray for blessing. As usual, some silly pictures… and cool picture when we put our glasses on!

Hey! We’re the secret agents!

After that, we’re going to the 2nd temple, Taman Lumbini. We kinda lost to find it. Driving through the strawberry and vegetable farm, and finally we saw a tall Golden Thai style pagoda, that’s the temple! Wow! It’s magnificent! *Jaw dropped! I don’t feel like I’m in Indonesia. Feels like Thailand! When we arrived, the temple’s almost close, we only have 15 minutes before 5 pm. We rushed in and took as much pictures as we can. We don’t have time to enter inside the temple. Sigh~ Lucky to visit the temple.

My Favorite spot, A cabbage farm.. They’re growing fresh, big, green and natural.  Thanks a lot for my sister, Min who took this pictures for me.. I love it so much !!

After that, we’re on our way back to Medan. It’s raining! We’re stuck, it took about 1-2 hours then we finally knew that there’s trees fell on the road. And the people were stopping the cars to collect the money instead of moving the trees first.

We’re hungry, I was craving of Dim Sum Babura (Ayong) – (I’ve mention it in my previous post). Fortunately, It’s still open when we got there at 9 pm, but actually it’s feel better to eat Dim Sum in the morning. Ather that, It’s time to go home and rest…
